What is Shiatsu?

Shiatsu is a Japanese form of bodywork that uses finger and palm pressure along the body's energy pathways. It is thought to reduce muscle stiffness, stimulate the skin, aid digestion, and influence the nervous system.
Shiatsu

Unlike Swedish massage, Shiatsu is performed fully clothed and combines rhythmic pressure with gentle stretching to release tension throughout the body.

It is often chosen by clients looking for a treatment that addresses both physical tension and overall energy balance.

Benefits:

  • Reduces muscle stiffness and tension
  • Supports digestion and relaxation
  • Helps balance the nervous system
  • A gentle, fully-clothed alternative to oil-based massage

What to expect from a Shiatsu session

You remain fully clothed on a padded mat or treatment table throughout the session.

Your therapist uses palms, thumbs and gentle stretches to work along the body's pressure points.

Sessions typically last 60 minutes and are suited to clients who prefer not to use massage oils.
